Professional Development Series

In collaboration with our corporate sponsors, Women in Engineering hosts events geared towards assisting students in their professional endeavors:

In Fall Semester,

  1. Critical Resume Review

This event is modeled on a “speed dating” format where students rotate through tables of recruiters and corporate representatives from different companies and industries, to receive feedback on their resumes and make sure they impress future HR reps!

  1. Professional Networking

This event is a panel presentation of recruiters from various WIE sponsors, who explain how to interact at a professional networking event and help students develop their networking skills.

In Spring Semester,

  1. Negotiating Salaries & Comparing Hiring Packages

This event is a panel presentation of recruiters from various WIE sponsors, who explain how to handle multiple job or internship offers, how to negotiate and evaluate hiring packages, and the etiquette of turning down offers.

  1. Finances Post Graduation

At this event, you’ll meet Jeanene Fowler, BSIE ’84 and financial advisor with Edward Jones, who’ll discuss how to best set yourself up financially in your first full-time job, and answer any questions you might have re how to budget, how to prepare for retirement, renting v. buying, etc.
